The Best Walks Close to Home
Glenelg to Seacliff
A classic walk, easy for everyone, that showcases some of Adelaide’s greatest beaches. Starting on the Esplanade in Glenelg, walk or ride (two separate paths) along the shore, passing through both Somerton Park and beautiful Brighton, ending your amble at the Seacliff Surf Life Saving club. This walk is clearly marked with concrete path, however from Somerton SLSC there is a small section of sand only access. Lots of potential coffee and cake stops along this path!
Hallett Cove Board Walk
Just a 15 minute drive south from Glenelg, park by the Boatshed Café and get set for a gorgeous and informative walk. This is an important geological site, the home to a once huge glacier. All along the board walk are signs telling the history of the area and its importance in shaping the coastline. The sweeping views of the coast, coupled with the many different routes you can take, make for an amazing walk that will definitely exceed all of your expectations.
Adelaide city to Henley beach
For the city slickers among us, this is a great all day activity that takes you from the CBD, to the sandy shores of Henley Beach. While a relatively flat walk, it is 12km so can take most of your day to complete. Amble along the River Torrens, and you are sure to see not only some iconic Adelaide buildings, but also some wildlife and lovely parks before opening up into the blue expanse of the ocean.
