From Paddock to Plate at Tasting Australia


As the weather starts to cool, things start to heat up in the culinary world presiding over Adelaide. Long known as a state defined by our quality food and wine, April is the month where our palette’s come alive, hosting the annual Tasting Australia Festival.

Run state wide with over 140 events, this festival sees both local and world known chefs come together to celebrate the incredible food and wine from the region, tracking its journey from paddock to plate. Program directors, Chef’s Simon Bryant and Jock Zonfrillo will be joined by ambassadors Duncan Welgemoed (of Africola) and Nick Stock (winemaker) to put on a moveable feast like no other.

Joined by 3 chefs from the world’s Top 50 Restaurants - Christian Puglisi of Relæ in Copenhagen, Rodolfo Guzman of Chile’s Borago and Mehmet Gürs from Turkey’s Mikla, the events are set to be even better than last year.

New to this year’s festival will be Tasting Australia Airlines, putting on one time only flight paths to some of South Australia’s greatest foodie paradise’s. There’s a special trip to Coffin Bay, renowned for its oysters, and even trips out to the Flinders Ranges. These special flights ensure the regional South Australian grown produce will be the freshest it could possibly be!

Closer to home, experience fine dining in a limestone cave in the Fleurieu Peninsula, or try blending your own gin at the East End Cellars. There’s also a specialty Kangaroo Island degustation, located at La Boca in the city, and possibly the festival’s most anticipated event, the D’Arenberg Cube Surrealist Ball in the McLaren Vale.
