Exploring Glenelg’s Heritage Houses

June 19, 2018

It’s no surprise that Glenelg has some of the oldest and most beautiful residences in Adelaide.  The first European settlers arrived in Glenelg way back in 1836.

Seawall Apartments Victorian terrace was built way back in 1892, one of many delightful surviving buildings from this era within the 5045 postcode.

A half-day can be spent taking a walking tour of these elegant aged beauties.  The Holdfast Bay Council have created a helpful guide to the Mansions of Glenelg which you can pick up from the Seawall Apartments reception when you stay with us.

Many of the buildings on the walk are located along the beautiful Esplanade walking track, as is our featured building 22-23 South Esplanade.  We have a wonderful collection of photos showing the evolution of this building located in our reception office.

If you’re a history buff we highly recommend booking a stay in our beautiful School House apartment.  This 2 bedroom sea view apartment retains many original features, ceiling cornices and fireplaces, with historical photos decorating many of the walls.
