Winter activities for young families in Glenelg and surrounds!

July 24, 2018

Whilst the balmy days of summer are now well and truly behind us, there’s still plenty to amuse the kids in and around Glenelg!

Check out our list of activities to keep the little people in your life entertained during your stay with us this winter – the following are all an easy walk or short drive from Seawall Apartments.

The Beach House, located on Glenelg’s foreshore, is a family entertainment centre boasting waterslides, mini golf, an indoor play structure, carousel, arcade games, train, dodgem cars, bumper boats and a ferris wheel. Check the website for special offers such as the ‘unlimited power hour’.

We’re so lucky to have the world-class SA Aquatic Centre on our doorstep – just five minute’s drive away in Oaklands Park. The state of the art leisure centre is home to five pools, waterslides, splash park, sauna, health club and crèche. Check the website for special activities including giant inflatables during school holidays.

Grab a handful of gold coins and take a short walk down to The Bay Discovery Centre in Moseley Square and take a trip down memory lane as the young and young at heart in your family experience a magical collection of vintage arcade games.

Sometimes the simplest pleasures are the most enjoyable. On a cold winter’s day, there’s something quite lovely about settling in to a cosy café and enjoying a delicious treat. Our favourite spot for a coffee, hot chocolate or decadent dessert has to be Bracegirdles House of Fine Chocolate on Jetty Road.

Catch a movie at the GU Film House just off Jetty Road. There are no parking nightmares here – the cinema is less than ten minute’s walk from Seawall Apartments and surrounded by the many cafes and restaurants to grab a pre or post movie bite to eat.

The combination of sleepless nights with little ones coupled with bad weather is enough to make the most upbeat amongst us feel cranky! Fulfill your need for caffeine and your toddler’s need to burn off pent-up energy with a visit to Wiggly Worms – Glenelg’s play café.

There are few spots more picturesque to take to the ice rink than Glenelg’s Winter Wonderland. During the month of July, a temporary ice rink is erected on the foreshore, offering views of the waves crashing against the jetty whilst you unleash your inner figure-skater!
